New Feature - Call Recording

All the team at VoIP.ms is excited to announce the release of our latest feature, Call Recording!


The call recording feature is located under "DID Numbers" then under "Call Recordings". You can now record your calls whether they are incoming or outgoing for as low as $0.0025 per minute (a quarter of a cent). You may also consult the customer portal to manage all your recorded calls including listening to them, downloading them or even forwarding them over to an email address.

New Feature - Call Encryption

All the team at VoIP.ms is excited to announce the release of our latest feature, Call Encryption!


We now encrypt all the details about who and where you are calling through SIP-TLS (Transport Layer Security) as well as audio through SRTP (Secure Real-Time Protocol). To activate this feature, you first need to activate it in your Customer Portal by heading over to Main Menu then Account Settings, navigate over to the Advanced tab and set the Encrypted SIP Traffic to "Yes".


Please note that if encrypted calls are enabled, you need to configure your device accordingly. For more information, you can read our Wiki article here or directly reach out to our support.

We Are Improving Our US Numbers Infrastructure

As we continue to strive for the best and most reliable service for our customers, we initiated a series of internal network changes aimed towards the overall improvement of the service which will also allow us to provide more features in the coming future.


We do not expect any impact to the service while the changes are completed and we’re also conducting extensive tests and considerations to make sure of it.

We just released a new set of methods that can be used through our API: Local Number Portability!

These new methods allow you to start a portability process, add an invoice, retrieve the current status and much more.

New Feature - Sequences

The sequences feature is located under "DID Numbers" then under "Sequences". Sequences is an IVR enhancement feature that allows you to create very specific scenarios where you can make use of any combination of the following options: DTMF, Recordings, and SMS. A single sequence can contain any amount of the options in any pre-defined order to be executed one step after another.

New Feature - Phone Book Groups

All the team at VoIP.ms is excited to announce the release of our latest feature, Phone Book Groups!


The phone book groups feature is located under "DID Numbers" then under "Phone Book". You can now create unique groups that fit your needs (e.g. family, work or friends)! Groups can also be used in combination with our CallerID filtering feature. You could for instance route all your calls from your "family" group to your personal mobile.

We just launched an audio conferencing feature!

The feature is located in the portal under "DID Numbers". You can now create your own space and allow several people to be bridged together in the same conversation. Our audio conferencing feature provides the host with a dashboard monitor that allows organizers to monitor and control different aspects of the conference call in real time.

Automatic billing and more!

Here is a sneak peek at a few changes that we are excited about.


Today we are launching an automatic billing feature! You can now set a threshold and a top-up amount, and we will automatically replenish your account once your balance reaches the specified threshold. No more need for low balance alerts! The automatic billing feature is located in the portal under the Finances tab. You may review our Wiki article for more information.


Many of you also told us that you would like to have a lower minimum deposit, so here it is... starting today, we are lowering our minimum deposit from USD$25.00 to USD$15.00!


The best part? These new features are only the beginning. We have a lot of exciting news coming your way this summer.

New Terms of Service and Privacy Policy

Yes, another Privacy Policy change e-mail from one of your providers! Even though we are not really affected by GDPR, we took advantage of all the ruling regarding privacy to update our current Privacy Policy. In brief, we made it easier for you to understand what this is all about.


Nothing is changing about your current settings or how your information is processed. We simply improved the way we describe our practices and how we explain the options you have to update, manage, export, and delete your data.


We simplified and improved the navigation and organization of the policy to make it easier to find what you are looking for and we also explained our practices in greater details.


Our revised Privacy Policy will become effective on June 15th, 2018 11h59PM EST. We have also made some changes to our Terms of Service. The revised version will also become effective on June 15th, 2018 11h59PM EST.

SIP Account Password Reset

A new method to reset lost SIP Passwords has been implemented.
This new method works for both the Sub Accounts and the Main Account.

Overwriting old password in subaccounts is no longer supported for security reasons.
By pressing a button the system now generates a new random password which is assigned to the SIP account.

New Feature - Call Hunting

VoIP.ms is pleased to announce the official release of the new "Call Hunting" feature.

Call Hunting is a feature that allows users to receive calls in which Call Hunting Members are dialed one after another, for a specific amount of time, until one of the members answers the call.

2 Ring strategies are available to ring members of a Hunting Group:
- Follow Order: The Members will be called in the order provided: Ring 1, Ring 2, Ring 3, Ring 4, Ring 5, Ring 6, Ring 7, and Ring 8.
- Random Order: Each Member in the hunting group will be called in a random order. (Round Robin)

The flexibility of the Call Hunting features allows you to add a variety of member types to a Call Hunting group:
- Main Account
- Sub Account
- SIP URI
- Call Forwarding
- Ring Group

Additional features include:
- Add a recording at the beginning of the call hunting so your caller will listen to it before call hunting initiates.
- Play music on hold while your caller waits for someone to answer.
- Configure it so that in order to accept the call, the member needs to press '1' after answering the call, preventing the call from being answered by an answering machine or automatic system.

This feature is available now and can be configured from the Customer Portal by going to "DID Numbers" menu, "Call Hunting".

getFaxMessages has now one new parameter:

We're Improving Our Server Infrastructure

Important Information for users of our Seattle servers (seattle.voip.ms, seattle2.voip.ms, and seattle3.voip.ms).

These changes are done in order to improve the quality of service and also to be able to scale up our equipment transparently in the future.

There will be a change of IP Address on the Seattle servers.

The IP addresses for the hosts seattle.voip.ms, seattle2.voip.ms, and seattle3.voip.ms will be replaced on May 3rd after 1:00 AM EDT (05:00 GMT) with the following IP addresses:
Seattle 1 NEW IP Address: 50.23.160.53
Seattle 2 NEW IP Address: 50.23.149.166
Seattle 3 NEW IP Address: 50.23.160.54
(Old addresses: Seattle 1 = 50.23.160.50, Seattle 2 = 50.23.160.51, Seattle 3 = 50.23.160.52)

What you may need to modify
===========================

If you are using the hostname of any of these servers (e.g. seattle.voip.ms), there are no interventions required on your part. However, if you have concerns regarding the transition and you want to make sure that there are no issues when the DNS is updated with the new IP address, please reboot your router/device after the IP switch is done. If you are using a Softphone, like Zoiper or Xlite, a restart of the software may be required.

If you are currently using the IP address of any of these servers to connect directly to them instead of the hostname (e.g. 50.23.160.50 instead of seattle.voip.ms), please update with the new IP as the IP switch is completed. The VoIP.ms issue tracker will be updated as soon as the IP switch is finished. (It is not recommended to use an IP Address directly with VoIP.ms)

We're improving our server infrastructure

Important Information for users of the Atlanta, Montreal and Toronto servers (more specifically atlanta.voip.ms and montreal3.voip.ms).

These changes are done in order to improve the quality of service and also to be able to scale up our equipment transparently in the future.

There will be a change of IP Address on the atlanta.voip.ms and montreal3.voip.ms servers. We are also adding additional servers in selected cities. See below for more information.

Atlanta:
The IP address for the host atlanta.voip.ms will be replaced May 11th after 1:00 AM EDT (05:00 GMT) with the following IP address:
Server atlanta.voip.ms NEW IP Address: 75.127.65.130
(Old address: atlanta.voip.ms 174.34.146.162)
Note: Server atlanta2.voip.ms is unaffected by these changes.

Montreal:
The IP address for the host montreal3.voip.ms will be replaced May 11th after 1:00 AM EDT (05:00 GMT) with the following IP address:
Server montreal3.voip.ms NEW IP Address: 192.175.96.68
(Old address: montreal3.voip.ms 72.55.168.18)
Four new servers will also be added with the following hostnames:
New Montreal servers: montreal5.voip.ms, montreal6.voip.ms, montreal7.voip.ms and montreal8.voip.ms
Note: Servers montreal.voip.ms, montreal2.voip.ms and montreal4.voip.ms are unaffected by these changes.

Toronto:
There will be no IP address changes affecting Toronto servers, but 4 new servers will be added May 11th after 1:00 AM EDT (05:00 GMT) with the following hostnames:
New Toronto servers: toronto5.voip.ms, toronto6.voip.ms, toronto7.voip.ms, toronto8.voip.ms

What you may need to modify

If you are using the hostname of any of these servers (e.g. atlanta.voip.ms), there are no interventions required on your part. Voicemail restriction lifted.

When creating a new voicemail mailbox, you are no longer restricted to using 1-5 digits for your mailbox identifier. The mandatory prefix that used to be in effect has also been lifted. As of now, you can choose any mailbox number you want, using the full 1-10 digits.
